CHRISTMAS GROTTO

Here in the U.K. Christmas seems to start earlier every year: I thought I would leave this page in situ to give you more time to make preparations and may take some of the stress out of the usual "last minute" rush that happens to all of us every year.

Finding the right presents for everyone is just one of the tasks which befalls most of us at this time of the year.  This can be both time consuming and expensive but this need not be the case.  I originally searched the net in order to find a selection of gifts for every member of the family as well as any other items which I thought would be of interest but so many of the gifts I featured became unavailable or were moved to different pages it was soon untenable.  I have, however, found some unusual gifts which may at least point you in the right direction.

Gadgets and gifts suitable for men and special someone,  as well as a selection of more unusual and most wanted items such as cashmere which can be purchased on line - saving those tedious shopping trips - men take note!

Within Hints and Things there are many different pages covering varying aspects of Christmas, some of which are linked below:-

Traditional and also more unusual recipesparty drinks; decorations, presents to make, traditions, party hints and tips etc. etc.   - in fact, anything that can be loosely associated with Christmas.

Here you will find some inspiration for more personal yet economical gifts that you can create for yourself with very little effort;  there are some Christmas related tips as well as a recipe for Christmas Ice Cream Bombe.

CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES

Ingredients

100 g. Digestive biscuits

175 g. Chocolate (any kind)

50 g. softened butter

50 g. icing sugar (powdered sugar)

Cocoa for coating.

Method

Put biscuits into a plastic bag and crush using a rolling pin or something similar.

Put chocolate into bowl and melt either over hot water or in microwave.

Add the sifted icing sugar, softened butter and biscuits to the chocolate mixture and mix well.

Place in refrigerator for ten minutes to chill.

Take about a teaspoon of this mixture and form into a ball shape.

Roll into some cocoa powder and ensure completely covered.

When compiling this site I have made strenuous efforts to avoid commercial banners, animated graphics etc., as I feel this not only makes download tedious but it detracts from the content of the site.  It was started purely as a hobby, financed entirely by myself with no commercial funding at all.

An English Heritage Gift of Membership would make a really original gift for people that appear to have everything.  Grandparents would probably be very pleased to receive such a gift as it encourages people to get out and about and helps with the cost.

Obviously, I do not have the backing or wherewithal to run an internet shop myself and, therefore, I must admit, that the products featured have been chosen from other pages and, in some instances, I will receive a small commission on any sales received through this site.   Should any monies be forthcoming it will help to cover my running costs for site charges, telephone bills etc.
